Thankfully Matthew was a little trooper and did better than
anyone expected. At 2 weeks they let me start nursing him and he did well. I
would have to weigh him before and after in order to make sure he was getting
enough, and they would only let me nurse every three hours. This was a little
frustrating cause you could tell he was getting hungry earlier but by the time
they would let me feed him, he had gone into that survival mode sleep. We worked through it though and by 3 weeks
post-surgery they were ready to send him home! I was so happy! Aaron and I had
to watch this series of silly videos about carseat safety, crib safe, purple
crying…it was a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Less silly was learning
infant CPR. Lord willing we’ll never have to use it, but it is useful to know. They were going to send him home with an NG
tube in because they were still concerned about him eating enough (he had been
losing weight), so we also had to learn how to put that in and how to feed him
with it.
The big day was to be Thursday, September 20th! Mamma
went and bought a pair of pants that fit to celebrate! Not kidding. I was tired
of wearing slouchy clothes. With my new duds bought I was ready to bring home
baby!
Yes, please Joan London, tell us how to install a carseat...
We'd rather just hold the babe!
SO interesting!
